Oregon Newspaper Indexes

Oregon Spectator (1846 - 1854)
This is an index to the first newspaper published in the Oregon Territory. The paper began in 1846 and the last issue under the name was March 1855. The paper changed names to the Oregon City Argus and then to the Oregon City Enterprise. There are no professional indexes to either the Argus or Enterprise. (more)

    Oregon Stateman (1850 - 1866)
The index to the Statesman, although only sixteen years were completed, is a valuable source to the newspaper and the researcher. It was originally on 3 x 5 slips of paper and handwritten and was a tedious job to compile, but a welcome aid when researching this newspaper. (more)

Oregonian (1850 - 1923)
The index extends over the years 1850 to 1970. The years 1850-1909 was a selective and not an all name index none the less this is a very valuable index for historians and genealogists. The index is an, in progress work project, and we will be adding to it on a regular basis with completion expected soon. (more)

  Pacific Christian Advocate (1864 - 1890)
This index is a compilation of marriages and deaths and miscellaneous information from the newspapers dated 1864 to 1890. The work was completed by the Daughters of the American Colonists. This is not an all name index and was compiled primarily for the genealogist, however, the index is very useful and without it the researcher would need far more time to complete their work.
